The first international event for the resource-efficient low-carbon economy, World Efficiency Solutions aims to contribute to the tangible implementation of the low-carbon circular economy in business and in towns and communities, applying the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement. All aspects, from solutions to funding and support, are addressed through the prism of new models and working methods based on stakeholder collaboration as early as possible in a project’s life.
The decarbonisation of the economy is a guiding theme at all levels of World Efficiency Solutions. The Summit is devoting many sessions to the subject: exploring CO2 reduction, low-carbon strategies in the construction, logistics, transport, food processing and water sectors; energy performance contracts in industry; decentralised energy generation; the benefits of digital technology; electric motorways; from carbon footprints to the sub-2°C target: how can we move from GHG reporting to transition actions?; positive-energy buildings and carbon reduction (Alliance HQE-GBC conference); energy visions for 2050. At the same time, the solutions exhibition concentrates a large number of products and services targeting carbon neutrality. Several prizes and trophies also give decarbonisation a major role, including the ministry’s Enterprise and Environment Prize (see the Fighting Climate Change category) and the My Positive Impact competition organised by FNH and UNCPIE to reward climate solutions developed by associations, start-ups and local authorities.
Similarly, the circular economy is the subject of many conference sessions at the Summit with topics to be covered including circular production and consumption: solutions and industrial cooperation; impacts of the circular economy on careers and employment; strategy for establishing circular economy plans at local level; the circular economy for sustainable construction (Alliance HQE-GBC conference); impact of Greater Paris’ waste on jobs and skills in recycling companies; creation of a recycling skills centre to adapt to evolutions in the market and the sector; and more. World Efficiency Solutions is organising special operations devoted to the application of the circular economy in four sectors: building, automotive, water, food processing. Also of note is that Orée is offering a comparative view of how Green Deals are applied in the Netherlands (their country of origin) and in France. Green Deals are reciprocal commitments made by a state and other signatories to facilitate the emergence of innovative projects in various aspects of the circular economy. The first four signed in France in April 2016 (“commitments to green growth”) relate exclusively to recycling, like the construction and public works deal signed by UNICEM, present at WE. Finally, the solutions exhibition and awards events will be an opportunity to discover many resource-efficient products and services that have limited impact on the natural environment….READ MORE
